Why Believing in God Is More Reasonable Than You Think

They say believing in God is foolish. They mock Christians as unintelligent, irrational, and out of touch with modern science.

But let’s stop and ask the deeper question:

Who’s really thinking this through?

Let’s compare the two worldviews people wrestle with today.

1. Everything Came from… Nothing?

The atheistic view says this:

“In the beginning, there was nothing. No time, no space, no matter. Then suddenly, something appeared—energy, particles, physical laws—and evolved into stars, planets, life, and us.”

This worldview claims:

  • Nothing created everything.

  • Life arose from lifeless matter.

  • Consciousness, morality, and love evolved by chance.

But there’s a serious problem with this logic:

Nothing cannot produce anything. If there was ever nothing—no potential, no matter, no time—then nothing would still exist today.

Even science agrees: natural laws operate within time and space—they can’t explain how time and space themselves came into being.

So in the end, this worldview puts faith in chaos, randomness, and blind chance.

2. The Christian View: Someone Created Everything

Now let’s consider the Christian worldview:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

This view doesn’t say something came from nothing—it says everything came from Someone:

  • A timeless, immaterial, intelligent Creator.

  • A Designer who made the universe with order, purpose, and beauty.

  • A God who didn’t just remain distant, but stepped into history—in the person of Jesus Christ.

Believing in God is not blind faith. It’s faith based on reason, design, and evidence.

Let’s talk about that evidence.

3. The Historical Evidence for Jesus (Outside the Bible)

Some say, “You can’t trust the Bible, it’s biased.”

But did you know Jesus is also confirmed by non-Christian historians?

Here are just a few examples:

🏛️ Tacitus (Roman Historian, ~116 AD)

“Christ, from whom the name [Christian] had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of Pontius Pilate.”(Annals 15.44)

📚 Josephus (Jewish Historian, ~93 AD)

“Jesus, a wise man… a doer of startling deeds… was condemned to be crucified by Pilate… and those who loved Him did not cease.”(Antiquities 18.63–64)

🧾 Pliny the Younger (Roman Governor, ~112 AD)

Describes Christians who “sing hymns to Christ as to a god.”

📜 Babylonian Talmud (Sanhedrin 43a)

“On the eve of Passover, Yeshu was hanged [crucified]. He practiced sorcery and led Israel astray.”

These secular records affirm that:

  • Jesus lived in first-century Judea

  • He was known for powerful deeds

  • He was crucified under Roman authority

  • His followers believed He rose from the dead

  • The Christian movement exploded immediately after

Even critics couldn’t deny His impact. They just tried to explain it away.

4. The Early Christian Witness

The New Testament itself is historically rich and early.

Paul’s letter in 1 Corinthians 15:3–8, written within 5 years of the resurrection, records:

  • Jesus died for our sins

  • He was buried

  • He rose on the third day

  • He appeared to more than 500 eyewitnesses

No myth grows that fast—especially under Roman persecution. And no one dies for a lie they know they made up.

5. So… Who’s Really the Fool?

Let’s bring it home.

Which takes more faith?

  • Believing that nothing created everything for no reason?

Or…

  • Believing that an eternal, intelligent Creator designed the world with meaning—and revealed Himself through Jesus Christ?

Psalm 14:1 says:

“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’”

Not because unbelievers lack intelligence, But because they reject the evidence all around them.

Creation points to a Creator. Moral law points to a Lawgiver. Love, truth, beauty, and purpose all whisper the same thing: There’s more.

Final Thought: You’re Not the Fool

Don’t let anyone shame you for believing in God. Your faith is not superstition—it’s anchored in reason, reality, and revelation.

Jesus Christ didn’t just come for the religious. He came for the skeptic. He came for the broken.

He came for the honest thinker, ready to say: “Maybe there’s more to this life than chance.”

There is. His name is Jesus.
